To develop basic capabilities of teachers and schools to establish, maintain and use science and technology labs and materials in order to improve the quality of teaching of science and technology.

This directorate has a General Department for Production and Procurement of Teaching Learning Materials and five sub- departments in different section, the each sub- department has 6 technical and professional members. Each sub-department has their own duties and responsibilities for manufacturing mathematical and geometrical Kits, which contains 25 items of different types of geometric shapes, 30 models charts of Science and math education subjects, 25 different types of biological models, tables, chairs, cabinets for laboratory, Lab equipments and all instruments for experiments such as physics, chemistry and biology  and science subjects are being produced in these sub-department.

This directorate has six departments namely Mathematics Department, Physics Department, Chemistry Department, Biology Department, Environmental Science Department and Department of Information Technology, where each department has eight academic members. The main duties of these department are conducting of trainings and workshops, Writing Experimental Guide Books for Scientific and practical experiments, Anatomy, Distribution  of laboratory and Technical equipments and conducting trainings for how to use laboratory, technical equipment and materials.

GDSET Stands for General Directorate of Science Center and education Technology. GDSC is functioning in the structure of Ministry of Education, based on its term of reference they are responsible for the practical implementation of the new curriculum, scientific capacity building and developing professional skills of science and mathematics schools teachers through educational workshops, equipping the schools with laboratory equipment and materials and the distribution of GDSC's productions and preparation of Chemical materials accordance with quotas from free market to all the schools of central and all other provinces of the country.
